Cycling Round Trip Myra – Granestua – Hersel

Experience the Arendal forest region by bike – a 20 km round trip filled with nature, culture, and beautiful stops along the way.
This scenic and varied cycling route takes you from Myra School via Granestua to Hersel. The tour is 19.8 km long and considered moderately challenging, combining gravel roads, forest trails, and quiet country lanes.
The trip starts at Myra School, where you’ll find good parking facilities. From there, you cycle through peaceful forest landscapes and small rural communities, with plenty of inviting spots for breaks and discoveries along the way.
Along the route, you’ll pass Granestua, one of Arendal’s most popular hiking destinations for both young and old. Here, you’ll find family-friendly trails around small forest lakes, and on Sundays from autumn to spring, you can enjoy coffee and freshly made waffles in the cozy cabin by the water.
The route continues in gently rolling terrain towards Hersel, with scenic sections through the forest, past lakes, and traces of old mining history. Along the way, there are several detours for those who want to explore more – or shorten the trip back towards Myra.
This is a perfect route for those who enjoy combining cycling with nature experiences – and maybe a break with a view, a swim, or a waffle stop at Granestua.
