Day trip cabin Udimærka // Arendal

In the heart of Arendal's city forest, you'll find Udimærka – a charming day cabin overlooking Saltrødtjenn.
The cabin is 25 m² and open for day visits all year round. It features solar-powered lighting, a wood-burning stove (bring some firewood if you’d like to light a fire), and a small library with books about nature, local history, and fairy tales. The books are for reading on site, adding a touch of discovery to your visit – perfect for both children and adults.
Outside you’ll find benches, picnic tables, and a barbecue area, with an accessible toilet just a short distance along the trail. The cabin is designed to be accessible for both strollers and wheelchairs.
Bymarkshytta Udimærka is part of Dagsturhytta Agder. The goal is to provide everyone with an easily accessible hiking destination nearby – a place for community, fresh air, and nature experiences.
How to get there
Udimærka is located along the hiking trails in the city forest west of Saltrød. From the parking area at Fossbekk, it’s about a 30-minute walk (approximately 3.3 km). You can also reach the cabin from other trails in the forest – see the trail map here or find the route on UT.no.
