Hiking area at Hove and Spornes

One of Arendal's most beautiful hiking areas in the heart of Raet National Park – with forest, sea and coastal rocks just outside the city.
On the southern tip of Tromøy, only a 10-minute drive from Arendal’s town centre, you’ll find Hove and Spornes – a beloved recreation area and part of Raet National Park. Here you can enjoy beaches, smooth coastal rocks and kilometres of scenic walking trails along the sea.
The area is perfect for a peaceful stroll or a full day outdoors. Follow the paths that wind through forest, past small ponds and all the way to Spornes beach – a beautiful pebble and sand beach where the sea decides how much sand remains from day to day. Along the way you’ll find picnic spots, benches, and quiet places to enjoy the horizon.
Hove is a year-round destination. The hike from Hove to Alve and back is about 12 kilometres, but there are plenty of shorter routes and loops to choose from.
Facilities include restrooms, parking areas, and well-marked trails suitable for both children and adults. Parking is available at Hove Camp Centre or Spornes Beach. Bus line 102 runs from Arendal city centre to Tromøy several times a day.
