Guidet tours at the old mines at Næs Jernverksmuseum (ironwork museum).
The mine at Solberg was the main mine for the ironwork at Næs. The mine supplied the iron work with ore and was located 1,5 km from the ironworks. The mine was operative from the 18th century until 1860s. Today you can visit the mine and even look for ore yourself, walk along the narrow paths with a flashlight and hear the story about the mine.
Both adults and children can visit the mine. everybody gets a helmet to wear, a flashlight and a magnet.
All tours are with a guide. Most paths are wheelchair friendly.
The road to the mine is shown on roadsigns from Fiane. Are you driving on the E18 from either Arendal or Tvedestrand you take the road 415 in direction Åmli at Fiansvingen in Holt. Right behind the petrol station, to the left there are roadsigns to the mine. Good parking lot with room for many cars. WC.
