Spornes beach

Spornes Beach – a natural gem in the heart of Raet National Park.
Spornes lies at the outer edge of Tromøy, just ten minutes from Arendal’s city centre – one of the area’s most beautiful spots for swimming, hiking, and coastal experiences.
Here, powerful rocky shores, pebbles, and sandy beaches meet in one stunning landscape – shaped by the sea, the wind, and time itself. The beach is part of Raet National Park, and nature here changes with the seasons: sometimes a wide stretch of sand appears, while other times the waves reveal the smooth, rounded stones that give the place its unique character.
Spornes is perfect for a summer day filled with sunshine, swimming, and picnics – but also for peaceful walks by the sea all year round. The area offers picnic spots, benches, and well-marked trails leading towards Hove – a popular outdoor recreation area with kilometres of coastline and beautiful views of the Skagerrak.
This is Southern Norway at its finest – salty sea air, smooth granite rocks, and the horizon as your closest neighbour.
Parking is available at Spornes Beach or Hove Leirsenter. Buses run regularly between Arendal city centre and Tromøy.
