The Rygene Lighted Trail

The Rygene lighted trail offers great hiking opportunities all year round – whether you prefer a walk in the forest or a ski trip when the snow arrives.
The trail starts at the sports field on Rygene. From there, cross the road and follow the gravel path into the woods. Along the circular route, you’ll pass a small ski jump with benches and a cabin – a nice spot for a break or some winter play.
The terrain is varied, with gentle slopes, patches of moss, small streams, and a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees. The gravel path is even and easy to walk, even on damp days. The entire loop is about 2 km and well suited for a relaxing afternoon walk or a short training session.
How to get there
Bus: Regular buses from Arendal city centre stop at the sports field (last stop) – right by the start of the trail.
Bicycle: About 13 km from the city centre, with safe paths and sidewalks the whole way.
Car: There is good parking at the Rygene sports field – the trail starts just across the road.
