Tours and activities in Arendal for wheelchair users

Wheelchair accessible outdoor trips in Arendal There are many great places to go on a trip in Arendal. Here are 5 places that are suitable for both wheelchairs and prams. Check out Martins suggestions.
The city trail
Arendal has got a new city trail. It is 10.5 km long. You can take all or part of the trail. The city trail runs through the historic city center, along the sea, along the water, past parks and playgrounds, on hiking trails in nature and some stretches along the street.
With a wheelchair, you must choose an alternative route from the railway station to KUBEN museum and archive (Barbudalen). Here you will find a digital map of the city trail. Alternative route is marked with orange dots.
Kunstarena (art arena) Torbjørnsbu mines at Bomuldsfabriken art gallery
It is a great experience to walk on the new built bridge that are made high above Torbjønsbu mines. The mines at Torbjørnsbu were for several centuries among the most important iron mines in the country, after the closure they were used as a landfill. Today it has become a nice art arena at Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall, which in the olden times was a cotton factory
To get to Kunstarena Torbjørnsbu Gruver you take the trip to Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall. It is easy to enter the the gallery with a wheelchair if you drive in behind the building. On the 3rd floor there is a small exhibition about mining, from the third floor you come out onto the iron bridge over Kunstarena Torbjørnsbu Gruver (art arena over the ironore mines)
More information about the exhibition and the opening hours can be found at bomuldsfabriken.no.
Raet National Park - Hove
Hoveodden is part of Raet National Park here you can walk on beautiful hiking trails and paths along the sea between trees that have been shaped by the wind. There are beautiful hiking trails at Canvas Hove and at Hove leirsenter. Here you can ride a wheelchair or powered outdoor wheelchair. If you prefer the narrowest paths, I recommend using an outdoor wheelchair. Read more about Raet National Park.
On the way to KUBEN museum and archive
Whether you are planning a visit to KUBEN museum and archive or just want to go for a walk, I can recommend going from Trefoldighetskirken (trinity church) in downtown Arendal to KUBEN (Aust-Agder museum and archive) and Langsæ farm. On the way you will pass 8 historic buildings. At the tourist office in Arendal you can get a nice brochure with maps and some information about the various historic buildings you pass.
Granestua
If you go to Granestua on a Sunday in the school year, you can buy a waffle. If you travel there another day, you can enjoy lunch in the gapahuk (lean-to shelter). The path around the pond is well adapted for both prams and wheelchairs. More info can be found at granestua.no.
