Come and listen to Elin Furubotn at Børsen!
Elin often writes about everyday life, about small and big things, and her lyrics are easily recognizable to most people.
Elin Furubotn, who grew up in Tonstad and attended Trellebakken Gymnasium in Flekkefjord, is one of the country's finest songwriters in the folk jazz and singer-songwriter tradition. She sings her own songs and brings along her guitar and a portable little reed organ (from 1934). Several of her songs are regularly played on the radio, and one of her well-known songs is "Så lett det kan ver" with Morten Abel and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
Furubotn has released nine albums, with her latest, Resirkulerte Rim og Regler, coming out in 2022. These were rhymes and rules she learned from her grandmother, to which Elin composed new melodies, a cultural treasure and heritage dating back to the 17th-18th centuries.
Elin often writes about everyday life, about small and big things, and her lyrics are easily recognizable to most people. She has a charming perspective on daily life, with a good dose of humor or wonder. Elin also believes that there can be much wisdom and insight in old rhymes and rules, which we can use as fine metaphors.
Elin Furubotn has also released music internationally and toured in Germany with her Norwegian lyrics. She received the Indie Acoustic Award in the USA for the album Heilt Nye Vei (2013) and was nominated for the same award for her latest album Resirkulerte Rim og Regler.
