Film Screening “War Memories” // Lyngdal Cultural Centre

Unique film footage from the Liberation Anniversary in 1985 will be shown for the first time. Experience local history and powerful memories from Lyngdal's war years – free admission, first come first served.

To mark 80 years since the liberation, Lyngdal Municipality and Lyngdal Historical Society invite you to a special evening at Lyngdal Cultural Centre on Monday 17 November at 19:00.

For the first time, the audience will see unique recordings from 1985/86, when Lyngdal commemorated the 40th anniversary of Norway’s liberation. The original films – recorded by Aamund Heiseldal (camera) and Ingrid Røren (interviews) – have been restored and edited after 40 years in the archives.

Highlights include the memorial celebration at Kvås Folk High School on 8 May 1985, featuring local war heroes, Lyngdal Mixed Choir and Lyngdal School Band, as well as the documentary “War Memories from Lyngdalen”, where local witnesses such as Johan Vegge and Ingrid Røren share stories from World War II.

In today’s uncertain world, this event serves as a reminder that freedom can never be taken for granted.
