In May 2025, it will be 80 years since the liberation days of 1945. What strategies underpinned the narratives and perspectives conveyed through the media after the war was over? What did the images show and what did they not show? The lecture also highlights how TV, radio, and newspapers contribute to the collective memory of World War II in Norway in our own time.

About the lecturer: Siri Hempel Lindøe is an Associate Professor at the Department of Nordic and Media Studies at the University of Agder. She is a participant in the research project: "Unfinished Past. Norway and World War II in Contemporary Aesthetic Memory Culture" (2022-2026):

About the Saturday University:

What are they doing at the university? Are they researching something interesting and useful? The Saturday University offers popular science lectures by researchers at the University of Agder. Here, current topics are presented and discussed in an informal setting. We all risk learning something new here.

The Saturday University is held every second Saturday of the month in Flekkefjord. This is a collaboration between the University of Agder and Flekkefjord municipality. The event lasts about an hour and a half.

Time: 13:00 Location: Spira, the library. Free admission. The number of seats is limited.
