The Lady from the Sea
The Lady from the Sea By Henrik Ibsen, Directed by Marit Moum Aune.
Critically acclaimed Ibsen success from London staged in Norway for the first time! The Norwegian Ibsen Company's The Lady from the Sea received enthusiastic praise from audiences and critics alike when it premiered in London in 2019. Following its success in London, this production has been further developed to fully utilize the spectacular surroundings of Bruddet Fjæreheia. Pia Tjelta reprises her role as Ellida, a woman torn between duty and freedom, between the safety of land and the infinite power of the sea. Tjelta was nominated in the category Best Female Performance for this role, one of several nominations the play received at the British Off West End Awards (Offies). In addition, the music has been composed by Nils Petter Molvær, one of Norway's most internationally acclaimed musicians. The Lady from the Sea was a shocking play in 1889—and it still resonates deeply today. Come to Bruddet Fjæreheia and experience Pia Tjelta alongside an exceptional cast under the bold direction of Marit Moum Aune. The performance will be subtitled in Norwegian and English via the app Thea, provided by Swedish company DoGood AB. Originally produced by The Norwegian Ibsen Company and The Coronet Theatre, London
