Start by the tourist office and follow Smith Petersens gate towards Arendal, past Grimstad Church and Grimstad Town Hall. Follow the foot and cycle path straight ahead across Biesletta. By the Bieheia turn-off, cross over to the other side of the road and continue along the foot and cycle path on the right hand side until you reach Vikkilen. Follow the signs for Fevik. At the Vik junction, turn right and follow the foot and cycle path running along-side route 420 towards Fevik. When you reach the 40 km/h zone, cross the road and continue along the foot and cycle path on the left hand side. After a few kilometres, as the sea comes into view, you will see the idyllic Strand Hotel Fevik. At the very tip of the headland, you will find Sandodden Fort. Cross over to the right hand side, and follow the pavement to Fevik. As you reach Feviktoppen, turn right and follow the signs for Søm. If the weather is good, a detour to Storesand, one of Grimstad’s best beaches, can be recommended. To do this, turn right and follow the signs towards Storesand. If not, continue along Sømsveien and go straight ahead to Hasseltangen. To reach the outermost part of Hasseltangen, turn left onto the dirt road at the end of the car park. This is a beautiful spot with stunning views, ideal for a break. As you return, turn right at the first junction. Continue for just over 1 km, and then turn left onto route 420 towards Fevik. After having passed by a riding school on your left, cross the road and follow signs for Lunde. As you reach the T-junction, turn left towards Lia. When the road meets the foot and cycle path, continue straight ahead towards Vik/Grimstad. Just before you reach route 420, use the pedestrian crossing to cross over to the right hand side. Then continue along the foot and cycle path running below. Follow this back to Grimstad.
Comments: Mostly flat and gentle terrain. A route largely made up of quiet roads or cycle paths.
Don't forget that you can rent a bike at Grimstad Tourist Office.
