FRESHWATER FISHING
Grimstad’s vast, beautiful and lush countryside is ideal for outdoor pursuits and fishing. Excellent opportunities for those happy with a small catch, as well as those looking for something to fill the frying pan. Lake Kilandsvannet has plenty of small trout and perch, also known as bass. Easily accessible lakes ideal for small-fish angling are Kilandsvannet, Hålandslona, Rosevannet and Begervannet. For a larger catch, the lakes Holvannet, Gangvannet, Vigelandsvannet and Røynevannet are recommended. If pike is the attraction, the lake Rore is the perfect spot. SEA FISHING
The Grimstad region offers excellent rod fishing opportunities. Some easily accessible spots are Kalvehageneset in Homborsund, the southern part of Marivold and Hasseltangen in Fevik. The most common fish species are cod, saithe, pollack and mackerel. For fishing by boat, recommended areas are the Smørsundholmene or Teistholmen islands, or south-east of the Håkallene islands. The easiest method is troll fishing (one or several baits towed behind the boat at slow speed). Try a wobbler – this will sink when you drive, and float to the surface when the boat stops.
