Fjæreheia

How do I get to Fjæreheia? 
There are two parking options for this hike. You can start the trip at Dømmesmoen. This will be a long round, just under a mile. Dømmesmoen is located 2 km north of the city centre. Take the RV 404/ "Opplandsveien" north from the city centre, over E 18. Make a right where there's signs to Fjære/Dømmesmoen. Dømmesmoen will be on the left side after driving for about 1 km.

For a shorter alternative, you can start the hike from the parkingspace at Deidalen. This round is relatively easy and should fit most people, also families with kids. To get to the parkingspace, continue driving from Dømmesmoen to Fjære church. Make a left by the church. Follow the road until you get to a powerplant on the left side. Then take a turn to the left and drive until you get to the parkingspace. 

The trail from Dømmesmoen to Deidalen and the route to Kollen is not suited for strollers, wheelchairs and bicycles. But the gravel path at Dømmesmoen and from Deidalen, along Rorevannet to Dømmesmoen is suitable for this. You may combine the hike with a biking trip. You can for example bike from the startingpoint of the path in Deidalen, and walk the rest of the way.

Description of the hike:

From Dømmesmoen:
There are three options for routes from Dømmesmoen to Deidalen (the gravel path you cross to get to Fjæreheia). We suggest that you take the trail going into the right in the forest at the start of the floodlit trail. Follow the trail over the marsh and take a left when you get to the main trail. Continue on this trail over the hill and down past "Bukketjenn". Keep to the left along the lake and follow the trail. Keep to the right in the crossroads and follow the trail down until you get out on the gravel path. Follow the hiking description from Deidalen, around "Kollen". On the way back, you can continue on the gravel path along "Rorevannet" until you meet the floodlit trail at Dømmesmoen and follow the lit path back to the parkingspace. 

From Deidalen:

The hike to "Kollen" can be done as a roundtrip and is around 4 km long. Follow the gravel path in, until you're almost at the end of "Rorevannet". Take the trail to the right here. Follow the trail upwards. The trail varies from being a broad tractor-path to a smaller forest trail, but the round is clear and easy to follow. Be aware that where the tractor-path ends the trail goes over bare rock to the left. Around half-way on the round, is "Kollen". Here there will be a good view over the land. Enjoy lunch at the top, before descending again. The trail will lead out to the gravel path, about 500 m from the parkingspace.
