Great hiking opportunities all year round.
The light trail at Dømmesmoen
Dømmesmoen is located approximately 2 km north of the city center - an excellent hiking destination where you can explore the forest paths and floodlit trail by foot. During winter, when there's snow, the trail turns into ski tracks and are reserved skiers. At skisporet.no you can keep track of the trails and see when they were last prepared. The track is approximately 3,5 km long. Nearby you will also find a small lake called Rosholttjenna, where you can enjoy ice skating if the ice settles.
You can find a Map at Grimstad kommune's website.
How do I get to Dømmesmoen?
Drive north on Rv 404/ Opplandsveien from the city center, you will drive passed the E 18. Take a right where you see the sign towards Fjære/Dømmesmoen. After approximately 1 km you will find Dømmesmoen on your left.
Trail description
To follow the right direction of travel, take right on the road that leads towards Rosholttjenna. The Floodlit trail is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs during summer and autumn (when the snow comes, the trails are reserved skiers). Hiking in this area is relatively easy and suitable for everyone, altough the last loop of the trail is quite hilly. The total length of the trail is 3,5 km. At the parking you can find a map.
If you are hiking during daytime, it is also recommended to take an extra walk up to see the tower. You will find trail description on the map situated at the parking.
