Ibsen's herb garden

Ibsen's herb garden is a gem worth visiting in the beautiful park at Dømmesmoen. You will find historical herbs of the same kind Henrik Ibsen used when preparing medicines as an apothecary apprentice in Grimstad between 1843 - 1850. The herbs have been gathered in groups based on their healing property.The herbs are therefore carefully placed into groups: head, skin, stomach, intestines, bile, lungs, oral cavity, bladder/kidney, heart and rheumatism. You will also find herbs used for cramps, as well as herbs used in cooking. 

The herb garden is at its most lush in June and July, but can be experienced all year round. You can chose to stroll around on your own, or you can experience the park and the herb garden with one of our skilled guides.
