Landvik kirke
A few kilometers west from Grimstad is the church Landvik kirke almost in the middle of a crossroads where the local roads meet. The location is said to be an old church yard all the way from mideival times.
Ladvik kirke haven't always looked like it looks today. Before there was a stone church in the same place. No one knows exactly how old the stone church was, but looking at other stone churches in the area, it is estimated to be from the period around 1150 and 1250.
The church has been renovated several times, but around the 1800s, it was determined to be too small and that a new church should be built. It was demolished in 1823 and ready to be consecrated two years later. The foundation for the new church and the stone fence has stone from the old church. The leftover from the old stone church were also used for buildings nearby.
The total number of seating in Landvik kirke is around 400.
