The family-friendly Maritime Museum is located in Hasseldalen – an area that has been home to shipyards and shipping activities for over 150 years.
In 2015, Hasseldalen saw the opening of a brand new maritime museum. Two exhibitions show each, in their own way, how important the sea has been to people in the region. “The Age of Sail” presents the economic, social and cultural aspects of shipping, told through the stories of shipowner I.W. Prebensen, the rookie Giert and Captain Due and his wife.
The second exhibition will focus on areas such as shipping activities and the maritime industry in the region from around 1850 to today. The story of Hasseldalen as a shipyard, both past and present, will also be ondisplay. At the cosy restaurant Kafé Losen you will find a varied menu, and souvenirs from your visit can be purchased the maritime museum shop. A stroll in the historic surroundings of Hasseldalen is also recommended.
