The center of Kristiansand is tightly situated in the midst of beautiful natural surroundings and the city center offers many additional sights.
For art lovers, the city center holds Sørlandets Art Museum, the art gallery Christianssand Kunstforening, and Gallery Bi-Z. If history is more preferred, we recommend taking a stroll through Posebyen, Kristiansand Cathedral and Christiansholm fortress.
By the sea front you will find the local fish market along with many good restaurants and a delicious ice cream parlor, the Otterdals park, Kristiansand guest harbor and the city beach.
Beginning from the salmon river Otra, you can bicycle through Baneheia and over to the beautiful Ravnedalen Park. We definitely recommend making a stop and visiting Café Generalen and taking a small excursion up the stairs near the café up to the top of the mountain for a lovely view overlooking the forest and sea. From here you can see Odderøya, which is an old military complex with bunkers and canons now used for its wonderful tracks and surroundings by the frequent visitors and cyclists.
Odderøya is an ideal place for a picnic both at Bendiksbukta or by the Vaktmannsboligen where there is also a café open every Sunday.
Kristiansand’s Theatre and concert hall is also located on the island.
Length: 10,3 km not including Odderøya.
Surface: Asphalt in the city center and gravel roads in Baneheia and Odderøya.
Terrain: Baneheia and Odderøya have rolling landscape, but the city center is flat.
