D/S Hestmanden – Norwegian war sailors museum

SS Hestmanden sailed during both World Wars and is the last remaining ship in the Nortraship fleet.
After extensive restoration work, the once rundown SS Hestmanden is today a unique cultural heritage and memorial. The is a unique museum and a memorial from World War 2.
On board in an authentic setting, you'll find exhibitions about the war sailors and their stories, screenings of the short film "The Nightmare", as well as the opportunity to get a close look at the heart of the ship - the original steam engine from 1911 that is still in operation today.
The ships location is Bredalsholmen Dokk og Fartøyvernsenter in Kristiansand.
Open in summer season, see website for more information and sailing plan.
