Concert with MAO unCOVERed at Varde in Holum
MAO at Varde! The trio consists of three slightly older gentlemen, all registered in Mandal. But don't let age scare you; older people today are younger than older people were when they were younger themselves… On the program, you'll find ballads, blues, folk songs, and party tunes. Some are written by others, but there will also be original material. That's why the concert is called unCOVERed…
MAO consists of Morten Ericson, a complete fool when it comes to musical instruments, but someone who has been active in the local cultural scene for over 30 years, especially at Varde. He has been a part of Mandal Kantori and is currently a bass singer in Mandal's Singing Society and Koransje. Arthur Bauge sings, plays guitar, and harmonica. Arthur knows what he's doing. Not many people can make 12 strings on a guitar sound like a hardanger fiddle! But perhaps it's easier for someone from Bergen than for most people. It might have something to do with genetics…
The last (and youngest) member of the group is Oddvar Tønnessen. Oddvar is also from the west coast, living in Mandal, and he's great at anything with at least four strings. He'd probably get a good sound out of a guitar without strings too.
The concert starts at 19:00 (doors open at 18:00) and lasts about two hours, including a break. Refreshments will be sold.
PARKING: Behind Holum Bedehus.
