Postgirobygget - Eikerapen Roots Festival

Overview

In the wake of a few concerts with a tulle orchestra and two demoCDs with 48 new songs in Norwegian, a band started in the student environment in Trondheim (NTNU) in the mid-nineties. The demoCDs were titled "Please close the door" and "Rivd" and went under the project name "Postgirobygget" because Arne once had a summer job in Oslo and looked at this building daily. They became very popular. From the student community they spread throughout the country, and through others' hands to record companies. The project was meant to be a grim reproach from the studies, and was as good as the late autumn 1995.
During a week in December, suddenly the four largest record companies in Norway called Arne and wanted to make an appointment. The election nevertheless fell on Norske Gram in Trondheim, following a great dedication from Åge Aleksandersen himself.
The debut album "Melis" is launched six months later, in June 1996. It sells up to 200,000 physical copies, and plate number two must be postponed because melis stays coherent for more than 70 weeks on top of the VG list.
Today, after 20 years on the road, the band has released 9 albums, held about 1000 concerts and consumes the radio, power top and folk singles with the summer songs every single summer.
