By bike to Sjølingstad

This tour takes you from the centre of Mandal through a lush cultural landscape along Skogsfjorden and further along gravel roads until you reach the Sjølingstad Uldvarefabriken (Wool Factory).
The trip to Sjølingstad is about 7 km (around 14 km round trip), and goes through easy terrain. Starting from Bryggegata, follow Cycle Route No. 1. At the first intersection, turn right and follow the road until you turn left onto Buråsveien (signposted Cycle Route No. 1) towards Skjebstad. Follow the signs to the golf course at Valle Gård. We cycle along the edge of the course, beside Skogsfjorden, in green and lush surroundings along a charming and well-maintained cart road. At the end of the fjord, we reach Vestre Skogsfjord. There are several farms here. At this point, you have the option to return to Mandal if you prefer a shorter ride. Please note that you must return the same way, as cycling on the E39 is not allowed.
If you choose to continue the trip to Sjølingstad, you will need to cross the E39 at Vestre Skogsfjord. This road is busy, so be very careful when crossing. You then continue on a gravel road leading to Sjølingstad. It is about 3 km from the crossing to the Uldvarefabrikk. Along the way, you pass Lammetjønna – a nice place to stop for a swim if the weather is warm.
Once you arrive in Sjølingstad, you'll get a good impression of what this industrial village used to be like, with its charming small houses in the centre. The Uldvarefabrikk was once the largest employer in Lindesnes. Today, it is a living museum factory with guided tours every day throughout the summer season. Tours start at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00. If you arrive a little early, that’s no problem – the area in front of the factory is perfect for a picnic. There’s also a café and a factory outlet if you prefer to sit indoors. Various items produced at the factory are for sale, and in the café, you can get coffee, cakes, soft drinks, and more.
