Kleven and Gismerøya

Kleven and Gismerøya in Mandal represent a living cultural heritage from the sailing ship era and serve as a hub for dynamic development in modern shipbuilding. On Gismerøya, which today functions as an industrial area, one of Norway's largest ship repair yards from the sailing ship era was located. Today, Umoe Mandal AS continues this proud tradition. Founded in 1988, the company specializes in building high-speed vessels and structures in fiber-reinforced plastic composites, serving both civilian and military markets nationally and internationally.

The area around Kleven and Gismerøya still retains its historical charm, with well-preserved wooden houses and an atmosphere reminiscent of past maritime activity. At the same time, it is a vibrant industrial area that combines tradition with modern technology.
