One of Southern Norway's most beautiful outer harbors, with old houses and a lot of history!

Svinør is an island located off Åvik in Lindesnes municipality in Agder and was an old outer harbor. Its proximity to Lindesnes was one of the reasons Svinør became an important harbor early on. It was once the largest pilot district on the southern coast, with 20 permanent pilots. The place is considered one of the best-preserved and most beautiful outer harbors on the southern coast.

Shipowners and captains lived here, and the oldest houses date back to the late 1600s. Svinør had its own pilot station, customs office, and shipyard. Today, there are no permanent residents on Svinør, and in the summer, holiday guests dominate the area. The island is best experienced by boat, but you can also get a good impression from Åvik, the village on the mainland right next to Svinør.
