Risør Kystkultursenter

The coastal heritage centre Risør Kystkultursenter provides an historical overview spanning a century of shipbuilding and boatbuilding. The centre is located in one of the old boatyards at Moen, a perfect setting to experience and learn about traditional boatbuilding craftsmanship.

Building of ships and boats has been a large and important industry in the Risør area and there are still several boatyards in full operation. The boatyard at Moen Båtbyggeri has been in operation since 1916. 

Stepping inside the unique buildings you can sense the authentic atmosphere. There are two exhibitions here describing the history of the boatyard. Children can make their own toy boats in the workshop or fish crabs from the pier. A rowing boat can be rented for a nice boat trip on the fjord.
