Turn off from highway 9 in the roundabout in Byglandsfjord and follow municipal road 305 across the bridge to Senum. At the next crossroads turn right on road 304 through the village of Senum until you reach the bridge over the stream Bjørndalsbekken, running between the two last houses on the left / the north side of the road. Turn off this road and follow a gravel road for 100 metres. There you will find a suitable place to park your car.
From there the path continues on a gravel road through the valley Bjørndalen. When it divides, you follow the marked path through the forest to Horgeknipen. Moving upwards, you may enjoy the view of the Byglandsfjord. Not far from the top there was a rural fortress some 1500 years ago, but only a few remains of it are visible today. From the top of Horgeknipen – between the trees – you get a view of Senum in Evje and Hornnes, and to the west and north you see the villages Byglandsfjord and Grendi in Bygland. This trail is closed during the moose hunt.
Length: 4 km return trip
Ascent: 200 metres
Duration: 2–3 hours
Difficulty: Moderate difficulty on gravel road and path. Several easy sections.
