Hovdenuten - round trip 4 km

The 1119-metre Hovdenuten is one of the local landmarks, now with sherpa steps. Enjoy the magnificent view!
This is a great family hike, manageable for children aged five and upwards. Starting point is central Hovden, from where you walk to the bottom of the hill in the cabin area "Hovden Fjellpark". Continue on marked trail to the left.
Autumn 2022 the sherpa trail was completed on both sides of Hovdenuten, making this hike an excellent round trip.
From the summit you get a magnificient panoramic view, and there is also an information sign with a map, and a mailbox with a guest book.
The hike continues on a marked trail down through the pass Breiveskaret, then to the upper end of the "Hovden Fjellpark". This part of the trail has some loose rocks and at times wet bog areas. Solid footwear is therefore recommended. The Hovdenuten hike is still a steep one, but with the sherpa steps and some other adaptations is has become more accessible.
Please note that there is no official parking place in the "Hovden Fjellpark" cabin area. If you arrive by car, you have to park at a public parking place, for example in central Hovden. An alternative is at Hovden Alpinsenter (against a fee).
