Sosteli farm

Iron Age farm
The deserted farm Sosteli is one of the best-preserved Iron Age farms in Europe. Sosteli was settled almost continuously from about the birth of Christ to 1000 AD.
At the foot of the mountain you can still see traces from house foundations, fields and stone fences that are about two thousand years old. The area was excavated in the period 1946-1949. Archaeological finds show that the farmers produced iron and hunted – in addition to ordinary farming and livestock keeping.
Sosteli is located about 2 kilometres from Kyrkjebygda. See www.laguide.no/sosteli for more information!
