Overlooking the Brokke Alpine Centre, Mt. Løefjell has been popular among climbers for many years. It is famous for its long, alpine routes of varying difficulty.

In the summer of 2016, a via ferrata was built straight up the rock face of Løefjell. Via ferrata means “iron path,” as the entire route to the top is equipped with iron rungs for climbing, and a fixed steel cable along the rock face that climbers are secured to at all times.

This via ferrata is very well suited for families and beginners. Children from 10 years and up can join the climb. If someone in your group prefers not to climb, they can follow the marked hiking trail up to the summit, which sits at 934 meters above sea level. On warm summer days, don’t forget to bring your swimwear — about 100 meters from the top, there’s a small mountain lake inviting you for a refreshing dip, whether you’ve climbed or hiked.

The climbing route is about 450 meters long and takes between one and two hours. The descent from the summit down to the Løefjell cabin area takes about half an hour.

Climbing at Løefjell is organized by Bratt Friluftsliv / viavalle.no, who also offer guided tours on the much steeper Nomelandsfjellet.
