The Norwegian Championship in Accordion and Diatonic Accordion will take place at Oppdal Kulturhus from 26 to 28 June 2025. The event gathers some of Norway’s finest accordionists and diatonic players for three days of competitions, concerts, dance and social activities in the heart of the mountains.

Programme Highlights

Competitions
Participants of all ages and categories compete for national titles in both accordion and diatonic accordion. Audiences can enjoy a wide range of musical expressions, from solo and duo performances to groups and orchestras.

Concerts
A key highlight is the performance by Gemini Duo – the world-renowned accordion twins Zhao Wanchen and Zhao Wanxu from China. Currently enrolled in the soloist programme at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under Professor Geir Draugsvoll, the duo has received international acclaim with a repertoire that includes classical transcriptions, contemporary works and pieces inspired by Chinese folk melodies.

Dance Music and Buskspell
Each evening offers live dance music by skilled performers, as well as spontaneous “buskspell” sessions – informal musical gatherings where joy and community take centre stage.

A Social and Inclusive Event
With a central location and excellent facilities, Oppdal Kulturhus offers the ideal setting for the championship. Several hundred visitors and participants are expected to attend, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
