Come along to a Stone Age settlement on Hamnøya. Guided tour up to settlement, and tour of Gallery Hamn – the rock art collection.
On Hamnøya island in Vevelstad municipality, archaeologists have long since made major discoveries from the early times when there were first people on Hamnøya. At Hamn on Hamnøya, landowner Trond Helgesen has made extensive findings from the first settlement at the site: Everyday objects for daily chores, hunting and trapping. The large stone collection that was crafted by people represents a look back at life several thousand years ago.
Guided tour of the Stone Age caveUp in the mountain foothills above Hamn, there is a large cave that was created during the Ice Age, and this was of course the actual settlement site of the community in Hamn. Visitors are guided up to the settlement.
