Did you know that the ski village and troll village of Rindal also has Norway’s warmest swimming water – at least among those measured by Yr?

Centrally located between Kristiansund and Trondheim, it doesn’t take long before you suddenly find yourself surrounded by mountains. If you’re arriving from the north, we recommend a stop at what might be Norway’s smallest bakery shop: Gardsbakeriet Hæmstelt.

Rindal is known as the Gateway to Trollheimen, offering hiking opportunities suitable for all ages and levels. At Trollheimstunet in Helgetunmarka you can rent canoes, bikes, and hammocks – and who knows, you might even meet a troll!

The idyllic swimming spot Igltjønna, located right in the village center, often appears on Yr as the warmest bathing water in Norway.

Just across the road from Igltjønna you’ll find the Rindal Ski Museum, nominated for European Museum of the Year in 2017. The museum consists of 15 buildings and also serves as a local heritage museum.

Rindal’s compact center is as cozy as something out of Cardamom Town, with everything within walking distance. The village’s own artist, Inga Dalsegg, welcomes you to her gallery and shop at Dalalåven Atelier. And to round off the day, why not enjoy a meal at the charming café 3 Venner, which also offers outdoor seating?
