There's no doubt that Gjevilvassdalen is beautiful during winter, and here you'll find 28 km of ski trails. You can ski almost all the way to Gjevilvasshytta, which is considered a great destination for both adults and children who love skiing.

How to reach the ski trails

To use the ski trails in Gjevilvassdalen, you can choose to park either at Grøtsætra, located a bit inside Skardalen, or at Osen, considered the starting point of Gjevilvatnet. Note: both roads are toll roads.

If you choose to park at Grøtsætra, follow the signs towards Rauhoven and then towards Gjevilvassdalen from Stangmyra. The trail is continuous except for two short sections and goes almost all the way to Gjevilvasshytta. This trail is more fun and varied and is about 8 km one way. When you get a view of Gjevilvatnet, the summer farms in the valley, and the mountain range with Gjevillvasskamban in the background, you’ll feel a sense of calm. If you prefer a shorter trip, you can head to Ormberget as your destination. There is a beautiful lean-to shelter with a stunning view and opportunities for having a bbq. The shelter is open for everyone to use.

If you prefer to park at Osen, you can take the lakeside trail towards Gjevilvasshytta. This trail is considered low-threshold, suitable for everyone, with a gentle, undulating terrain. It's perfect for taking children, beginners, or anyone who prefers flatter ski trails. It's about 8 km to Gjevilvasshytta each way.
