Meet the king of the forest!
Oppdal is known for musk ox safaris, but why not spend the long evenings searching for moose? The king of the forest is Norway's largest living mammal and a magnificent sight at dusk.
The moose stands up to 2.3 meters at the shoulder. Bulls can be 2.5 - 3.2 meters long, while cows are somewhat smaller. This impressive animal lives in Oppdal, as well as the rest of Scandinavia. Moose usually roam alone. They are active throughout the day but tend to be more active at dawn and dusk, so the tour is adjusted to the light. With experienced and knowledgeable guides, we drive into forest areas rich with moose. The likelihood of seeing moose in their natural habitat is very high, and we may also spot deer and roe deer. During the tour, we serve coffee and biscuits outdoors, along with a small taste of moose sausage.
