The Trollheimen Triangle

3 cabins, 3 days, 3 hikes. The Triangle in Trollheimen - one of Norway's finest mountain tours.
One of Norway's finest mountain tours; - The Triangle in Trollheimen, is the classic of all mountain hikes and is becoming increasingly popular.
The Triangle in Trollheimen can be considered the classic of all mountain tours, and it's no wonder it can boast a spot on the Norwegian Trekking Association's list of the 10 most popular mountain tours in the country. Experience 3 days on pristine high mountain terrain, visit the country's best tourist cabins, and perhaps end it all with a swim at the popular beach Rauøra on Lake Gjevilvatnet?
The Triangle is great to start from both Gjevilvasshytta and Jøldalshytta, and you can vary the hike and find the starting point that suits you. One suggestion is to hike the first leg from Gjevilvasshytta to Jøldalshytta, which is a nice day trip through the eastern, gentler parts of Trollheimen. Maybe you'll encounter a herd of reindeer or other grazing animals? The second leg then goes from Jøldalshytta to Trollheimshytta, and here you can choose between three alternative routes: the "Normal Route" over Geithøtta, the highest route over the three peaks of Trollhøtta, or the route through Svartådalen that goes between the two mountains. From Trollheimshytta back to Gjevilvasshytta, you can choose to hike up the legendary Blåhøa. Not least, you can extend the hike by a day and hike up to Snota from Trollheimshytta.
The three tourist cabins offer food and accommodation, and you'll get a packed lunch for the day's hike. All you need on these three days, if you're sleeping at the tourist cabins, is a daypack with extra clothes and essentials, food and drink, and, most importantly, a good mood. You can also camp in tents around the cabins and take advantage of the cabins' services. However, be aware that the hikes may become a bit challenging with heavy backpacks.
In total, the triangle is about 60 km long, and the total length will vary depending on the route options. The hike is suitable for experienced hikers and mountain-savvy and fit children from the age of 12.
