Hardangerfjord in a Nutshell by Fjord Tours:

The best way to take in the natural spectacle of Hardanger is no doubt on the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell tour. This journey goes through a landscape of majestic mountains, wonderful waterfalls, and spellbinding orchards. You can hop on and off as you wish, so there is no need to hire a car.

If the Sognefjord is the king of the fjords of Western Norway, the Hardangerfjord is surely the queen. The 111-mile-long fjord offers scenery that will spellbind even the most seasoned traveler. Here, there are cultural and natural gems galore.

The tours depart either from Bergen or Oslo and can include an overnight stay if you wish. It is also a fantastic opportunity to see Bergen’s historic Hanseatic wharf Bryggen, which is also like being in a painting of a bygone era, full of Norwegian detail and tradition.

There are different ways of completing this trip and you can modify and choose the travel option that is best suited for you in the booking process. We highly recommend taking your time by adding overnight stays during the tour. That way you can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and perhaps even take part in some exciting activities?

Hardangerfjord in a Nutshell and Rosendal:

On the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell and Rosendal tour, you will see and experience the magnificent Norwegian coast and scenery of the inner reaches of the Hardangerfjord.

The trip includes a journey on the coastal express boat from Bergen to beautiful Rosendal in the Hardangerfjord. Rosendal is a small village surrounded by majestic mountains and is the original site of Norway's only Barony built in the 17th century.

From Rosendal you travel to Odda and Lofthus in the Hardangerfjord which offers a landscape of beautiful fruit communities, mountains, and glaciers.

From Eidfjord you will experience a sightseeing trip to the spectacular Vøringsfossen waterfall and Hardangervidda Nature center. A journey on the scenic Bergen Railway is also included.

Combine this tour with a hiking trip to Trolltunga in Odda! The hiking trip takes about 8 hours and is an impressive and somewhat challenging trip. Read more about the Trolltunga hiking trip here.

Five Waterfalls

Hardanger is surrounded by five large waterfalls, which frame the scenery like a painted masterpiece.

Each waterfall has its own distinct character, and their majestic power exert an almost hypnotic attraction that can only be fully understood when you experience them in person. The best time of year to experience the power of the waterfalls is in May and June, when the ice and snow is melting in the mountains.
