Competition terms and conditions:
SUMMARY
These terms apply to Innovation Norway's “Norwegian School of Friluftsliv” competition. Sign up to win a trip to Norway for a five-day Friluftsliv immersion, learning and experiencing outdoor activities rooted in Norwegian traditions. Winners must inspire their communities back home with self-selected outdoor activities, documenting their efforts through film and video meetings. Travel, accommodation, and meal expenses in Norway are covered. Innovation Norway will select six winners based on a multiple-choice test. The detailed terms and conditions are as follows:
1 DEFINITIONS 1.1 “Competition” means the “Norwegian School of Friluftsliv” competition outlined in clause 4;
1.2 “Competition Period” means from 21 May 2024 – 21 June 2024 CET 16:00.
1.3 “Competition Website” means the Organizer’s website (https://www.visitnorway.com/things-to-do/outdoor-activities/friluftsliv/school-of-friluftsliv/ )
1.4 “Organizer” means Innovation Norway (organization number 986 399 445), Grev Wedels Plass 9, 0151 Oslo. 1.5 “Participant” means a participant fulfilling the requirements set out in clause 3; 1.6 “Prize” means the prize outlined in clause 5;
1.7 “Territory” means all European countries.
1.8 “Ts&Cs” means the competition terms and conditions set out in this document; and
1.9 “Winner” means a Participant winning a Prize.
2 GENERAL
2.1 The Competition is organized by the Organizer.
2.2 By entering the Competition, the Participants agree to be legally bound by these Ts&Cs.
3 PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Participants must:
3.1.1 be at least 21 years of age at the date of entry;
3.1.2 be a legal resident of the Territory;
3.1.3 confirm that they are available for up to 7 days between 11 August –17 August 2024 to travel to Norway to join “The Norwegian School of Friluftsliv”;
3.1.4 ensure that their participation in the Competition does not breach their obligations towards their employers or applicable laws;
3.1.5 register for the Competition on the Competition Website;
3.1.6 provide true and complete information when registering for the Competition pursuant to clause 3.1.5;
3.1.7 accept and comply with these Ts&Cs; and
3.1.8 not be an employee of the Organizer or a family member of such an employee.
3.2 It is the responsibility of the Participants to ensure they meet all requirements set out in clause 3.1. The Organizer reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any of the Participants by requesting documents proving that the Participants comply with the requirements. 3.3 If a Participant does not meet all requirements set out in clause 3.1, the Participant’s submission will not be considered, and they will be excluded from winning a Prize in the Competition.
3.4 Obtaining time off work to participate in the Competition and/or take a Prize will be the sole and absolute responsibility of each Participant.
3.5 There is no purchase requirement to participate in the Competition. Thus, no financial contribution (payment of a wager, stake or similar) from the Participants is required by the Organizer.
3.6 The Organizer will only send marketing communications to Participants which have provided their prior consent (i.e. “opt in”).
4 COMPETITION
4.1 First screening
4.1.1 When registering for the Competition on the Competition Website, the Participants must upload:
4.1.1.1 a short text (up to 800 letters) in English language that describes who the participant is and why the Participant wants to attend the Norwegian School of Friluftsliv; and
4.1.1.2 a picture of themselves that gives an impression on the Participants personality or interests.
4.1.2 The short text and the picture will be used for the first screening. When evaluating the contribution, the Organizer will put weight on interests, creativity, humour and the composition of the group as a whole so that everyone can enjoy hanging out over several days. The Organizer will select 50 Participants that will proceed to the second screening.
4.2 Second screening
4.2.1 In the second screening the selected Participants will be asked to send a video to the Organizer, where daily life and interests are described, and why the Participant want to attend The School of Friluftsliv. The Participants must use English language in the video.
4.2.2 Based on the video, the Organizer will select up to 20 Participants that will proceed to the third screening.
4.2.3 The Participants will be contacted by the Organizer within June 2024 by email or telephone. The Participants that do not proceed to the third screening, will not be contacted by the Organizer.
4.3 Third screening
4.3.1 In the third screening the selected Participants will be interviewed by the Organizer’s casting agency. The interview will offer the Organizer an opportunity to become thoroughly acquainted with the Participants, where topics such as daily outdoor activities will be one of the subjects discussed.
4.3.2 The interviews will be conducted in English via Teams or similar technical solutions.
4.3.3 In collaboration with the casting agency, the Organizer will select six Winners based on their answers in the interviews. The Organizer will put together a group of six who each have interests that fit with the concept and which we believe can contribute to good cohesion in the group during the stay.
5 PRIZE DETAILS
5.1 Number of Prizes: Six
5.2 Value: Approximately NOK 20 000 including VAT per Prize
5.3 Description: The Prize consists of a travel to Norway to experience the Norwegian way of Friluftsliv together with five other winners. The Organizer will cover the Winners’ travel costs, accommodation costs and meals.
5.4 After the stay in Norway, the participant shall take the knowledge home to further teach it. This shall be documented with film and video meetings. As a compensation for the work, the participant will receive a payment of 2000 NOK.
5.5 Other: For the avoidance of doubt, the Prize does not include:
5.5.1 out-of-pocket expenses, minibar items, telephone calls or any extras not included in the Prize specification;
5.5.2 transport from (i) the Winners’ city of residence to an airport within the Territory as chosen by the Organizer and (ii) back to the Winner's city of residence from such airport; and
5.5.3 necessary travel insurance.
6 NOTIFICATION TO WINNERS AND REQUIREMENTS
6.1 The Winners will be notified by email or telephone.
6.2 In the event that a Winner:
6.2.1 does not accept the Prize within the deadline set by the Organizer;
6.2.2 rejects the Prize;
6.2.3 cannot prove that it complies with the participation requirements set out in these Ts&Cs;
6.2.4 refuses to comply with regulatory requirements in the Territory relating to the Competition and/or awarding of the Prize; or
6.2.5 cannot provide proof of identity reasonably acceptable to the Organizer;
the Winner will lose its right to win the Prize and the Organizer may offer the Prize to another Participant.
6.3 Prizes may under no circumstances be exchanged, altered or compensated.
6.4 Any tax payable as a result of a Prize being awarded or received will be the responsibility of the Winners. The Winners should seek independent financial advice prior to accepting a Prize if this is a concern.
6.5 The Organizer has the right to publicise, broadcast and communicate to the public the names and hometowns of the Winners. The Winners agree to take part in all reasonable Competition related publicity (such as interviews and photography) surrounding the winning of the Prize as set out below:
6.5.1 The participant agrees that the Organizer can store, publish, release and otherwise use the images/films as set out in these Ts&Cs. The films and still images will be published in platforms such as the web, SoMe channels such as (but not limited to) YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, boards, print, etc.
6.5.2 The films and still images produced during the stay will be uploaded to the Organizer's content bank (https://brandcentre.visitnorway.com). Third parties have access to use when the purpose is to market, create interest in or otherwise build the reputation of Norway.
6.5.3 The Organizer has the right to extract still images/grabs/gifs taken from the production for use in advertising material in all areas as described above.
6.5.4 The Participant agrees to contribute to interviews/quotes, for use in web articles, both at Innovation Norway and collaboration partners/actors whose purpose is to market, create interest in or otherwise build the reputation of Norway.
7 PRIVACY/DATA PROTECTION
7.1 The Controller and applicable law
7.1.1 The Organizer is the controller of the personal data to be processed in relation to the Competition.
7.1.2 The Organizer is established in Norway. Unless mandatory data protection legislation in the Territory dictates otherwise, the processing of personal data in relation to the Competition is subject to the Norwegian Personal Data Act and the General Data Protection Regulation
7.2 Data subjects
7.2.1 Personal data relating to the following data subjects will be processed:

7.3 Types of personal data processed.
7.3.1 The following personal data relating to the data subjects will be processed:
· First name
· Surname
· Nationality
· Mobile number
· Email address
· Age
· Country of residence
· Picture and video
· Username on Instagram (it is voluntary to provide this information)
7.4 Processing purposes
7.4.1 The Organizer will process the personal data for the following purposes:
· To administer the Competition.
· To exercise its rights and fulfil its obligations pursuant to the Ts&Cs.
· To comply with legal obligations.
· To send marketing communications per email to the Participants who has consented to receiving such communications, cf. clause 3.6.
7.5 Other
7.5.1 The Organizer will not disclose the Participants’ personal data to third parties (acting as controllers) unless such disclosure is necessary to fulfill its contractual obligations pursuant to the Ts&Cs or to comply with legal obligations. The Organizer does not allow any third party to use the personal data for marketing or communication purposes. For the avoidance of doubt, the Organizer may use third parties (acting as processors) to process personal data on behalf of the Organizer (e.g. in relation to hosting etc).
7.5.2 The Organizer shall not store the personal data longer than is necessary to carry out the purpose of the processing unless the Organizer is legally obligated to store the personal data for a longer period (e.g. pursuant to archiving legislation).

8 LIABILITY
8.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Organizer hereby exclude and shall not have any liability to any Participant or Winner in connection with or arising out of the Competition howsoever caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited Prizes, damages and other liabilities.
8.2 The Organizer is not responsible for submissions that are incomplete, confusing or do not reach their destination due to any technical or human error, including, among other things, any kind of malfunctioning electronic devices.
8.3 The Organizer makes no representation or warranty in relation to Prizes provided and to the fullest extent permitted by law the Organizer shall have no liability to the Winners in relation to any Prize, its fitness for purposes, merchantability or otherwise.
8.4 The Participants shall indemnify and hold the Organizer harmless against any claims, actions, demands and procedures, including those issued by third parties, against any damages, losses, costs, expenses, fees, penalties and responsibilities (including but not limited to attorneys' and solicitors' costs and fees) that occur during the Competition as a result of any of the Participant’s breach of these Ts&Cs.
8.5 In the event that any provision of these Ts&Cs is held to be illegal, invalid, void or otherwise unenforceable, it shall be severed from the remaining provisions which shall continue in full force and effect.
9 TAMPERING, TERMINATION AND CHANGES
9.1 If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned as a result of any (including but not limited to) technical failures, unauthorised intervention, computer virus, mobile network failure, tampering, fraud or any other causes beyond the Organizer’s control which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition and/or to disqualify any Participant who (whether directly or indirectly) causes (or has caused) the problem.
9.2 The Organizer may vary the Ts&Cs or terminate the Competition at any time at its absolute discretion without liability to any Participant or other person. The Organizer will not award a Prize if the Competition is terminated.
10 GOVERNING LAW AND LEGAL VENUE
10.1 Unless mandatory legislation in the Participant’s Territory dictates otherwise, the Participant and the Organizer agree that:
10.1.1 these Ts&Cs are governed by Norwegian laws; and
10.1.2 the district court in Oslo shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with the TS&Cs and/or the Competition.
