It's easy to spot the iconic Arctic Cathedral. It's one of artist Ida Tolou's best cultural spots in Tromsø. Enjoy midnight sun concerts here during summer or northern lights concerts during winter.

In the spring and summertime, people head out to the streets. Check out the popular recreational area, the Telegrafbukta bay. Enjoy the view and go for a swim at the beach.

Say “hello” to the seals in Polaria or cherish the town’s history as a starting point for countless Arctic expeditions at the Polar Museum.

An important teammate on the Arctic expeditions are the huskies! They need exercise all year round. Try dog sledding on wheels across the colorful autumn landscape.

For panoramic views of the city, ride the cable car up to Mount Storsteinen …

… or get there by climbing the 1200 stone steps up the sherpa staircase.

In this part of Norway, you can also experience the Sami culture. Listen to traditional joik and feed the reindeers.

Buy fresh fish from the boats by the harbor. Fishing has always been an important part of the culture here. You may also catch your own fish on a on a guided fishing tour.

If you like hiking, you’re in for a treat, as Tromsø is the gateway to several nature experiences. Discover the islands such as Kvaløya and Ringvassøy or the renowned Lyngenfjord region.

If you like it more down to earth, head to Sommarøy island, an hour drive from Tromsø, with leisure activities such as sea safaris and kayaking.
