Release concert - Mozart

At this concert a new recording is launched of a selection of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's lieder and Piano Concerto no. 13 in C major, K. 415, in Mozart's own version for fortepiano and string quartet.

In the lieder soprano Hilde Haraldsen Sveen and tenor Andreas Wivestad Jansson meet. The meeting between a young singer and an experienced artist is central to the project. Differences in life experience, perspective and musical standpoint open up different readings of the texts and the music. The singers have also been artistic producers for each other throughout the work on the recording. The starting point has been that there is no single correct interpretation, but that the music gets new life in the meeting between different voices and experiences.

The record is made in collaboration with Bergen Barokk. In Mozart's piano concerto Knut Christian Jansson plays on a copy of a Walter fortepiano from Mozart's time, built by Paul McNulty. Together with strings from Bergen Barokk the instrument's light touch and transparent sound gives the recording an intimate and chamber music character.

At the concert Marion Hestholm also reads from her book about Liv Glaser, a pioneer in the use of the fortepiano in Norway and Europe. The reading gives the concert a historical perspective on the instrument and on the work of bringing the historical sound into today's musical life.

At the release concert a selection of Mozart's lieder and piano pieces is performed.
