The round trip to Amlaholten is one of the hiking trails in Kaupanger which you must experience. This is a very popular trip starting from Festingadalen (SIMAS) where you can take the round trip on a good forest road.

From the car park you follow the marked path along the mountain on the north side. NB! Do not go up steeply to the left at the rock with the red cross.

The path then turns around the mountain and up more from the west-northwest towards the end. Before you reach the top there is a viewpoint where you will have an amazing fjord view. From the viewpoint the path continuous on steep terrain towards the top. Most of the stretch is on a nice tractor road, but it transitions to a path towards the top.

From the top you follow the red-marked path down to the starting point at Festingedalen. Altogether, this makes a great tour of approx. 5 km. The path is of good quality.

Due to the overgrown forest at the top, it is recommended to go a little south where a magical view opens up. The path is marked with red dots. In some places it is a bit steep, but otherwise a nice trip.
