Foxfonna Hike - Green Dog Svalbard

Come and see Advendalen and the surrounding mountains from a bird's eye view! The trip is a total of roughly 7 km and takes about 7 hours and includes lunsj&hot drink.

Join us on a hike across Breinosa Mountain, with breath-taking views of Adventdalen and Isfjorden! We’ll start by driving up to Mine 7 at

approx. 400m above sea level. From there we continue our tour across the base of Foxfonna glacier (named after the Arctic Fox) and on

towards Foxdalen. We descend towards the entrance of Foxdalen where we will stop for lunch at the Trapper’s Cabin.

After a light meal and some warm drinks we’ll head down the beautiful Adventdalen to finish at the Green Dog kennel.

So come and see Advendalen and the surrounding mountains from a bird’s eye view!

The trip is a total of roughly 11 km and takes about 6 hours (10 - approx. 16:30).

There are no roads or tracks over the mountain, so waterproof hiking boots, warm clothes and clothes for wind and rain protection are a must. Participants should be in good health and be able to walk in rugged terrain and cross streams. The summer at Svalbard is often 5 – 10 degrees Celsius.

Included: freezedried travel lunch/hot drink&bisquits.We recommend that you bring a bottle of water.

Our tours are run with small groups of maximum 8 guests per tour, and always with the guides' own dogs.

On all trips, at all times, an experienced and armed guide will be around to protect you from polar bears. At Green Dog safety is our number one priority.

Minimum age for participation: 8 years​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Our guides are all very professional and passionated in their work with the dogs. They are certified and participate in the yearly SGO course (Svalbard Guide Course).

Cancellation fees for activities
If cancelled 22 days or more prior to departure 100 % refund
If cancelled 22-7 days prior to departure 50 % refund
Cancellation less than 7 days prior to departure is a ”no show” and does not qualify for any refund. You may apply to your insurance company for a refund if you provide a medical certificate.
If Green Dog Svalbard decides to cancel a trip due to weather or any other condition , you will receive a full refund!
