Take one of the Helgeland coast’s most scenic bike rides – from Sandnessjøen, across the mountainous island of Dønna, and through the island group of Herøy.
This guided tour combines charming cafés, unique local shops, and vibrant coastal culture with a varied landscape that stretches from rugged mountains to the open sea. Bikes, equipment, and dinner are included.
The day starts at Scandic Syv Søstre in Sandnessjøen, where you meet your local guide. A short ferry ride takes you to Dønna, where you cycle through its rich coastal landscape towards Herøy. Here, the terrain opens to low-lying islands, sweeping sea views, and the Vega archipelago, Træna, and Lovund on the horizon. Throughout the ride, the peaks of Dønnamannen and the Seven Sisters form a majestic backdrop.
In Herøy, you’ll pause at Skolo café for authentic Neapolitan pizza before visiting Etcetera botaniske utskeielser – a flower and interior shop that’s part creative wonderland, part art gallery.
The return trip to Sandnessjøen is by express boat, but you can keep your bike longer to explore more of the islands. E-bikes are available, though numbers are limited, so advance booking is recommended.
