Lom Rural Museum is located at Presthaugen, a lovely and peaceful nature site right behind the Norwegian Mountain Center and within walking distance of Lom Stave Church.
Here you find buildings from the 17th, 18th and 19th century, and Storstabburet («The large storehouse») from 1613 - which is possible the biggest in Norway, and considered a national treasure.
The Rural Museum consists of 23 buildings, giving a living picture of the architecture and building methods in a large farm, of a farm labourer’s way of life and of seter (mountain dairy) farming.
Walk among the houses and discover a traditional summer dairy farm, a tenant farm and the main farm. Entering the houses at Presthaugen you can feel the atmosphere of past times. All the houses at Lom Rural Museum are from farms in Lom, Skjåk and Vågå.
Purpose-made hiking area
Presthaugen has been given a new gravel path and lighting, so that it is now suitable for both wheelchairs and prams.
