Since the ice-age, rocks and gravel have been swirling around on the riverbanks and formed big potholes.
Important message regarding the potholes in Nissedal:
The local road to the Jettegrytene will be closed all summer due to poor road conditions.
It will be possible to enter by bike (6-7 km) or follow a footpath (2 km) from the barrier.
See also message from Agder Energi:
Dynjanfoss power station will be closed for two periods and the potholes will be closed during these periods:
- 11.06.2019 to 11.07.2019
- 09.09.2019 to 04.10.2019
NB! Agder Energi informs us that it is forbidden to go down the timber slide. You are at great risk by taking that route.
Since the ice-age, rocks and gravel have been swirling around on the riverbanks and formed big potholes. Today the river is dammed and the potholes and river make out a natural waterpark suitable for all ages. On hot days the potholes become almost like hot pools, heated by the rocks and surrounding mountains.
