THE LOSÆTER

Urban farming in the capital

You do not have to flee the city to get the good farm feel.

Just behind Sørenga lies the lush, somewhat hidden jewel Losæter. This urban farming centre is a communal farm where vegetables and herbs are cultivated, and the locals can learn about food production.

It is also home to an artisanal bakery.

"Everything we grow and make here is consumed on site by people like me and you. Yesterday we made a fantastic communal six-course dinner for a big group of people."

The place is also used by different groups and organizations, to everything from therapeutic horticulture, bakeries and privat individuals who want to learn more about growing food on your own, preparing and composting food.

If you stop by on Wednesdays between 12:00-20:00 during the summer season, you can taste some of its produce!
