Plan your trip to Valdres

Valdres is a true outdoor mecca, with traditions deeply rooted in Norwegian culture heritage.

The Valdres region is centrally located in Eastern Norway. It's easy to get there by car and public transport. The area is known for its many amazing outdoor activities.

This mountainous region provides the perfect conditions for hiking, cycling, and fishing. In the wintertime, miles of cross-country tracks, downhill skiing, husky safaris, ice fishing, and kiting await.

The Beitostølen Ski Center, situated in the village of Beitostølen, is the largest alpine skiing centre in the area, with numerous slopes for both beginners and advanced skiers.

The town of Fagernes is Valdres's administrative centre, offering restaurants, hotels, shopping, and the Valdres Folk Museum. The region also boasts a variety of locally produced food, including a variety of cheeses, cured meats and traditional rakfisk (semi-fermented trout).

Valdres has achieved the certification Sustainable Destination. Although this does not mean that the destination is sustainable, it does mean that it has made a commitment to work systematically to reduce the negative effects of tourism, while strengthening its positive ripple effects.
