FLÅM

An unforgettable journey

Want to experience one of the world's most spectacular train journeys?

The Flåm Railway is part of the famous Norway in a Nutshell roundtrip between Oslo and Bergen.

In Fjord Norway, on the innermost banks of the Aurlandsfjord, you'll find the small village of Flåm.

After passing through fairytale-like scenery, your historic train arrives at the station in the middle of the town. Let's spend some time discovering everything Flåm has to offer!

Start by visiting Stegastein, 650 metres above the Aurlandsfjord. The incredible viewpoint is part of the National Scenic Route that runs from Aurland to Lærdal.

Or join a relaxing cruise on the Nærøyfjord, for example on board the award-winning, electric catamaran Legacy of The Fjords. This fjord is such a unique landscape that it's on UNESCO'S World Heritage list.

There are plenty of great hiking options in Flåm. Embark on a hike in 'Norway's Grand Canyon', Aurlandsdalen.

Get stunning views and plenty of air under your feet on the longest zipline in the Nordics, with 1,381 metres of pure adrenaline!

Fly at 100 kilometres per hour through beautiful, pristine nature, 350 metres above the ground.

Or explore Flåm by bicycle! It's a great way to get up close to the beautiful countryside.

Norway's most popular cycle route, Rallarvegen, the Navvy Road, ends in Flåm, and is a journey through both majestic nature and fascinating cultural history.

Aurland is a cosy village focused on slow travel, with an organic bakery and several cool craft businesses.

Take home a pair of Aurlandssko! This traditional penny loafer has been made locally since the 1930s.

Treat yourself to a stay at beautiful Fretheim Hotel, with historic interiors, delicious local food, and striking fjord views!

Or check out the family driven boutique hotel 29/2 Aurland, where modern design is combined with a rustic farm and traditional fly fishing.

The gates are also open at the Viking village of Njardarheimr in Gudvangen.

Stroll around among Viking guides in authentic dress and hear stories from the lives of the Vikings.

Make sure to visit the nearby village of Undredal, known for its award-winning goat cheese.

Flåm is not just a summer destination. The fjords are just as remarkable in winter!

Did you know that the Flåmsbana Railway also acts as a ski lift when there is snow? Put on your skis and rush down from the mountains to the fjord, or join a snowshoe trip!

That was just some of what you can experience!
