Aurora expedition in the Lyngsalpene mountain range

After a photographic excursion on a snowmobile or in a RIB, you will be treated to a lovely dinner and then taken on a northern lights chase. Start your 24-hour activity stay at 8:45 am (08:45).

The tour takes you as far as you need to go for the best chance of seeing the northern lights. When the sky is clear along the coast, you get a fantastic view of the mountains and the sea. You will be provided with warm clothing to keep you happy all night long. The trip lasts for 6–10 hours.

Included: two local guides, a documentary about the northern lights, a campfire, dinner, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, winter boots, shoe grips, warm clothes, tripod, head lamp, and pictures from the trip.

A three-day package with whale watching, northern lights chase and mountain sightseeing.

Day 1: whale safari by boat. Spot a whale or catch a glimpse of sea eagles and other types of birds. Duration: five hours.
Day 2: northern light chase by bus. Guided by professional tour guides, photographers and experienced aurora hunters, this tour is tailored for small groups. Duration: seven hours.
Day 3: fjord adventure by bus. Experience breathtaking landscapes, wild nature, local culture, and charming small towns Duration: five hours.

Arctic wildlife package

Through this package, you’ll meet three species over the course of two or three days and partake in some of the most popular activities Tromsø has to offer.

Dog sledding: Let professional mushers lead you through the Arctic tundra with some of the 300 dogs the centre has, before a hot meal in a traditional Sami lavvo.
Reindeer sledding: Relax and enjoy the scenery whilst a Sami guide explains Sami culture and sings traditional songs before you take a tour with the reindeer through the wilderness.
Whale safari: Cruise through the fjords and keep your eyes open for one of the many whales that come to Tromsø every winter. Includes a warm meal on-board the ship.

Self-catered accommodation near Tromsø

Combine comfortable accommodation with northern lights, sea-fishing, or just relaxing in a holiday house close to Tromsø. With Din Tur the price is the same whether you are one or six people sharing a house.

The holiday houses are great for northern lights photographers as there is very little light pollution in the area.

Fjords, whales and the northern lights

Explore three of natures wonders all in one package. Pick-up in the morning, upon which you will be provided with warm flotation suits, boots and mittens, before heading to the Kaldfjord to go whale watching from a rib boat. After this fjord adventure you will have lunch and a short break to relax.

At 17.30 the tour continues to the Lyngsalpene mountain range for dinner, a short workshop in photography and last but not least; spending the night in a lavvo while on the look-out for the aurora borealis. The next morning you will have a light breakfast before heading back to Tromsø.

    By train

    There is no train service to Tromsø. You can take the train from Oslo, Bergen or Trondheim to Fauske, where you must transfer to a long-distance bus to Tromsø via Narvik.

  • Tromsø bus

    By bus

    Long-distance buses connect Tromsø with Alta, Narvik, Bodø and Fauske all year around. If you’re going to the Lofoten Islands, transfer in Narvik. Check out Tromsø’s official webpage for more information.

    By ferry

    The Norwegian Coastal Voyage Hurtigruten calls at Tromsø twice a day on its way between Bergen and Kirkenes.

    The E6 connects Tromsø with Oslo and is open all year. Driving time is approximately 30 hours.
