Fight the Fight was formed in late 2016, but the band has already achieved success worldwide. The rock band has been around for more than ten years under the name Faenskap.
The band has played at all the major festivals in Norway, toured in Europe, and received massive praise for their phenomenal performances. Their first single “Perfect Combination” was released in June 2016 and reached more than 750,000 streams on Spotify.
“If Peer Gynt was a real person and alive today, he would have a TV show by now. And it would be better than the Kardashians.”
Fight the Fight has toured Europe several times and supported big acts like Satyricon, Kvelertak, and Avenged Sevenfold. In 2017 the band made their debut at some of the biggest rock and metal festivals in addition to supporting Satyricon on their European tour.
What did you think when you were asked to participate in this project?
“Everybody in the band is very familiar with Edvard Grieg and the story of ‘Peer Gynt’. So it wasn’t a hard decision to join the project. We have never played this genre before, so we thought it would be a fun challenge.”
Why did you choose to interpret ‘Anitra’s dance’?
“We chose between ‘The hall of the mountain king’ and ‘Anitra’s Dance’. The composition of ‘Anitra’s dance’ interested us the most, and since it hasn’t been covered by a metal band yet, we decided to take on the task. It didn’t take long before we had lots of ideas and could finish the song.”
Can you say something about your relation to “Peer Gynt”?
“Since we are raised in Norway, it’s quite difficult not to know ‘Peer Gynt’. We get to know the play in lots of different ways, from bedtime stories for kids to lectures on Norwegian cultural history and drama at school.”
What was your relationship to Edvard Grieg’s music before this project?
“Some band members went to music school, where they learned a great deal about Edvard Grieg.”
If you had visitors from abroad, which three cultural events would you recommend?
“We would take them to the by:Larm festival, the Viking Ship Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum and Texas Grill.”

What is it like to be an artist in Norway today?
“There are plenty of possibilities, and there is no limit to what you can achieve if you go for it. At the same time there are lots of musicians who work hard for their passion, so the competition is tough. We are lucky to live in Norway. As Norwegian artists we can apply for cultural funding, to help us achieve our goals and dreams. Not everyone is that lucky.”
